Welcome to Math ~ First Few Week Updates

Welcome to 6th grade Math!

We are off to a great start this year! So far, we have been reviewing math concepts that will help us prepare for the new learning that will take place over the course of the year. We have reviewed basic operations with integers, fractions, and decimals. We will continue some review this upcoming week and start getting into our first chapter on rational numbers.

We will kick off the week by taking our Star Math Assessment. This will help me to see what areas of math students are understanding and which areas we will continue to focus on.

We have also introduced our supplemental math website (www.ixl.com) that students are able to utilize at school and at home to practice math skills. This is a great tool to practice learning and refining the math skills that we will use in class this year. We will do a weekly IXL challenge to see which students have spent the most time on IXL for the week or have answered the most correct questions! I will post our winners on this weekly blog.

As a reminder, I am available most days after school from 2:45-3:30 if anyone needs any extra help with math concepts or assistance on their homework!

I am looking forward to a great school year! :)
