Science Week of 10/28
This week we will be finishing our first half of our second unit, which means on Friday we will have the Light Wave Assessment and next week we will start learning about Sound Waves.
Monday: We will be reviewing the light waves and the interactions of Light.
Tuesday: We will be learning the structure and functions of the eye.
Wednesday: We will take a vocab quiz and work on our study guide and reading response.
Thursday: Final Model/Review Day/Missing work
Friday: Light Wave Assessment
Missing work for the activity day is due by tomorrow at 3:30.

6th Grade After-School
Study Club
Starting with Monday, October 28, there will be a designated place for students to
get homework done from 2:50-3:30. There will be a 6th grade teacher available
to answer questions and to supervise students that are working. Late bus passes
will be available. Students MUST have class work to do or a book to read.
Students will not be allowed to stay if they are just wanting to talk with friends, play
on a computer, or do other things.

Social Studies News Week of: Oct. 21st
This week in Social Studies we are presenting our "Interview an Ancient Egyptian" projects where students were researching a part of Ancient Egyptian culture and preparing a script where they were simulating an interview with a character from Egypt. We're also starting the Key Terms for our Egypt Unit in Section #4 of our Social Studies Notebooks.

Halloween Dance Friday 10/25
On Friday, October 25 there will be a Halloween Dance in the 1-8 building gym sponsored by the Parent Club
Elementary dance: 6:00-7:30 (students must be accompanied by an adult)
Middle school dance: 7:30-9:00 (students must check in/out)
$2 admission, or $1 with a food pantry donation item

Social Studies News weeks of Sept. 30th and Oct. 7th
Week of 9/30--We'll be finishing up our 1st Unit on Mesopotamia and the First Civilizations. Students worked in small groups to create a Mesopotamian Culture Poster that was presented to the class on Thursday. Friday we'll wrap up the last section of our 1st Unit and start preparing for our first unit test.
Week of 10/7--We'll have our 1st Unit Test on Tuesday this week. You can find the Study Guide here.
We will also be introducing and starting our 2nd unit of the Semester--on Ancient Egypt.

Permission Slips Due FRIDAY
Permission slips for the 6th Grade Field Trip to the UW Science Festival on Thursday, October 17th were handed out today. Please sign and have your child return them to a 6th grade teacher as soon as possible. We are able to take a limited number of chaperones, and chaperones must be on the district approved list.
Students will return to school in time for the early release at 1:15. Students will need to either pack a bag lunch & drink, or purchase a school bag lunch through the lunch program. If they will purchase a bag lunch, make sure the student's lunch number is included on the permission slip. Thanks!
