The conservation club is again promoting the purchase of Earth Day t-shirts. We'd like at least 100 students and teachers to buy these shirts and wear them on Earth Day - Monday, April 22th. The shirts are reasonably priced ($8.00 - with $1.00 going to the conservation club).

6th grade orders can be submitted via Mrs. Rogness. The available sizes are Youth SM (6-8), Youth MD (10-12), Youth LG 14-16), Adult SM, Adult MD, Adult LG, XL, 2XL, 3XL, 4XL, and 5XL.  To order, please bring your $8 (cash or check to Conservation Club), and indicate which size(s) you want.  Families and friends are welcome to order, too!

The deadline for this promotion is coming up soon, so we ask that all orders be submitted by Friday, March 8th.

Next Week in Spanish - Week of 2/18

Next week in Spanish 6th graders will be continuing with Unit 2, which is focused on two topics: basic expressions in Spanish (greetings, goodbyes, etc.) and date/time. The first part of the week students will be finishing up a lesson on how to tell the time correctly in Spanish and the second part of the week will go back to working on basic expressions. Students will most likely have their short Speaking Assessment for the unit on Thursday or Friday of next week, where they will have to respond to a few questions in Spanish.

Have a great weekend!
Sr. Gavin

Dear Families,

Did you know? Kids who read for just 20 minutes a day are more successful in school and life. Ordering from Scholastic Book Clubs is an easy way to find the best books that are just right for your child’s grade and interests.

Here’s how:

Choose books with your child from the paper flyers or online at: scholastic.com/bookclubs

To order online, connect to our class using our Class Code P69TG
Bonus: This month, you can pick a FREE Book (up to $5) when you place an online order of $25 or more!

As soon as your order is delivered to our classroom, I will send it home with your child.

Plus every order you place earns FREE Books for our class to share.

Thank you for your support and happy reading!

Pencils

I have started to notice many students not having any pencils for class, which can negatively impact their ability to participate fully in class.  The supply of shared pencils that were collected at the start of the year were exhausted by December.  Some students have also run out of their personal supply.  Please check with your child to ensure that they have adequate pencils in their locker to get them through the end of the year.  Also, if you are interested in donating any pencils to the 6th grade in general, we are happy to put them in the "shared" pencil cups in each room.
Thank you for your help!

*Middle School forensics now begins on Monday, February 4th.  Mrs. Anderson and I are the coaches.  Forensics is a fun way to improve public speaking skills.  There are 2 meets during the season and we travel to Lodi and McFarland this year.  Students that are considering participating are encouraged to attend our first practice to find out more!  This is a great opportunity for 6th graders to be involved in an extra-curricular activity.
