Science News Week of May 18-22

This week in Science:

This week we analyzed our designs for our toy cars and then finally started building! The students are very creative and are building some awesome looking cars!

Assignments due this week:

• Reflection on Design analysis-worked on in class on Tuesday with group

Next week in Science:

Next week we will finish building, start running tests on our cars and collect data. Then we will start thinking about how to sell our car to the company executives!

Assignments due next week:

• Graphs and conclusions for 3 different tests-as a group, worked on in class

Social Studies News week of May 18 & May 26th

Week of May 18th:  We'll have 2 assignments due this week to wrap up our unit.  The 1st will be a Venn Diagram comparing & contrasting Islam with Judaism--their culture as well as their religion.  The 2nd will be Ch. 25 Sec. 3-Cause & Effect assignment.  The Venn Diagram will be due on Monday and the Cause & Effect assign. will be due on Wed.

Week of May 26th:  We'll be reviewing for our test both on Friday, May 22nd and Tuesday, May 26 in preparation for our unit test on Wed, 5/27th.  

Students will have a study guide for that unit test.

Science News Week of May 11-15

This week in Science:

This week we learned about brainstorming and came up with some great ideas for our toy car projects. Then we created some designs for them and will start analyzing them soon.

Assignments due this week:

• Brainstorming Article questions-due in class on Tuesday
• Designs-worked on in class Thurs, due Friday

Next week in Science:

Next week we will finally begin creating our toy cars and then running some tests on them!!!

Assignments due next week:

• Graph and conclusion of test results-Possibly on Friday?

Math News Week of May 11-15

This week we will wrap up our unit on Data and Graphs. After reviewing in class on Monday and Tuesday, our Chapter 11 Test will be on Wednesday. On Thursday we will begin our final unit of the year...Probability!

Social Studies News Week of: May 4th

Mon & Tues--We'll be finishing up our current events article and questions from Friday.  The article is on ISIS.  Students have 5 questions they're answering in their SS notebooks and will be typing a 2 paragraph essay that's due on Wed.  We'll be working on this in class.

Wed-Fri--We'll have 2 assignments due: Ch. 25 Sec. 1 Assign. and Google Maps Middle East Assign.

Science News week of April 27-May 1

This week in Science:

This week we started learning about the Engineering Design Loop. We got to practice designing and building with our groups by making a tower out of spaghetti noodles and marshmallows! It was a lot of fun!

Assignments due this week:

• Article Summary-Entrepreneur (due Thursday)

Next week in Science:

Next week we will dive into the Engineering Design Loop and focus on identifying the need for our design challenge and then begin learning about research as well.

• Defining the problem worksheet (in class on Monday with group)
• Idea web (in class on Wed-due Thursday)
• Article notes/research (in class on Thursday)
