NHS Community Book Exchange

Have any slightly used or already read books laying around?  Donate them to the National Honor Society and give them back to the community.  Book drop-offs will be available at each school as well as the Piggly Wiggly through December 7.  Once all books have been collected, there will be a free community book exchange on Monday, December 10th in the Poynette 1-8 cafeteria from 4-7pm, just in time for Christmas gifts!  You do not need to donate books in order to pick up some new ones at the exchange.  Board books, picture books, chapter books, adult books... any kind of books will be accepted.  Clear off those shelves to make room for some new reading materials, and help our community get excited about reading!

Science News- Week of November 19th

Hello! Students are working hard to understand concepts of Physics! They are applying their learning to our unit question of how roller coasters work. This week we will be studying the forces of friction and gravity.

All grades have been updated in infinite campus as well as student´s Puma Pride grades. We are off to a great start into second quarter!

I hope everyone has a wonderful break this week and a happy Thanksgiving!

Check out some pictures below of students working on a mini-coaster challenge to design a track that moves a marble as slow as possible. They used their understanding of forces to slow down the marble.

Science News Week of 11/12- Check out some photos from our Wind Turbine Project!

Hello!

We are a week into 2nd Quarter and have already had a big project that was graded on 3 of our Science standards. It looked at how students were able to research accurate information, use that to apply the principles of engineering to construct a working windmill, and write about their experience in a reflection.

Check out Infinite Campus to see grades on the projects! Anyone is welcome to see me to make corrections and improve their grades. I am available most days after school or during I/E.

I have also updated students progress on our Puma Pride standards so far. It is our goal to have students Meeting Expectations (ME) in all of the standards. These include turning in work on time, producing high quality work, and following classroom expectations.

This week, we will be wrapping up our Alternative Energy unit and sharing our research projects about alternative fuel for vehicles. We will then be entering our Force and Motion unit and will be studying about the physics of roller coasters!

Check out the pictures below to see students hard at work on their wind turbines!
