Social Studies News Week of: May 2nd

This week in Social Studies we'll be finishing up our Julius Caesar Trial Simulation project--ask your student what role they chose!  We've ended this week starting our research and will have Monday & Tuesday to continue that research.  The Trial Simulation will take place on Thursday in class (tentatively scheduled.)  In addition to the simulation project, students will have 2 assignments to be working on this week:

* Ch. 7 Sec. 3 Assignment--in class on Wed.
* Ch. 7 Sec. 4 Assignment--started in class on Friday

Social Studies News Week of: April 25th

This week we'll be starting our next unit--Ancient Rome.  We'll have 2 assignments due in class the first half of the week:
 * Ch. 7 Sec. 1 Assignment
 * Ch. 7 Sec. 2 Assignment

We will then have an in-class video on Thursday along with a question sheet on Julius Caesar followed by introducing a Caesar Trial Simulation Project on Friday.  Students will be choosing a role to research and play in a Trial Simulation where we put one of the people responsible for Caesar's assassination on trial!

Monday: Wrap up Common Assessment 2 (we started this on Friday in class and will finish it today)

Tues: "Democracy" assignment--we'll complete this in class today.

**We'll spend a couple of days reviewing and we're scheduled for our Ancient Greece Unit Test either on Thursday 4/20 or Friday, April 21st--Students will know by Tuesday of next week which day it will be.  They will also be getting a study guide early next week.

Math News Week of April 11th

After finishing up our unit on volume and surface area last week, we will be moving on to some different statistics concepts this week. Early in the week we will review how to find the mean, median, mode, and range of a set of data. We will also be learning how to set up and use spreadsheets to organize data. Social Studies News Week of: April 4th

This week in Social Studies we'll be finishing up & presenting our Presidential Candidate projects that students were working on before break.  We will be having a middle-school wide election on Tuesday just like the rest of the state.  The later part of the week we will be introducing Greek Culture projects that we'll be starting research on.  Students will be researching a topic related to Ancient Greek culture that is a part of our current unit.  We will have time in class to research on Wed-Fri.  The projects will be due early next week (probably Tuesday.)

Math News Week of April 4th

This week we will be finishing up our unit focused on volume and surface area. We have learned how to find the volume of rectangular prisms, triangular prisms, pyramids, cylinders, and cones, as well as the surface area of several of these figures! After doing some review and a few new lessons this week, we will take our Chapter 10 Test this Friday. Here are the upcoming assignments for math.
