Social Studies News Week of: March 5th
This week in Social Studies we'll be finishing up our unit on Ancient Egypt. Students just finished up a "Roving Reporters" project where they researched a topic related to Egypt and wrote a script in which they "interviewed" a character directly out of Egypt. We'll have a couple of assignments due this week:
Due Mon--Egypt Google Maps Assign.
Due Wed--Ch. 3 Section 5 Assignment
We've tentatively scheduled our unit test for this Friday. Students will be coming home with a study guide to help guide their studying on Wednesday. As always, all of the assignments from this unit should be attached into their Social Studies notebooks. Feel free to check there, or the Infinite Campus portal to check their progress.

ELA News Week of 2/26
Nightly homework: read at least 20 min!
Monday: On demand writing prompt
Tuesday: Socratic circle discussion (literature circle books)
Wednesday: Literary Review
Thursday: Literary Review (continued)
Friday: Short story & comprehension questions ("All Summer in a Day")
**Please check with your student to see if they need a new supply of pencils to finish the year. Many students are out of pencils and struggle to find an appropriate writing utensil (yellow markers are not a great alternative!) We would also accept donations of pencils to share with the entire grade if anyone is willing to help fill the need. Thank you!

March Book Orders
Class Code - P69TG
Order Due Date - 03/08/18
Dear Families,
I want your child to be a successful reader—and for that, I need your help.
When children choose their own books to read for pleasure, they enjoy reading more and spend more time doing it. The more your child reads, the better they will do in school and in life.
Scholastic Book Clubs flyers are made for you and your child to shop for books your child will love to read. Each month, the flyers are filled with trusted, excellent quality, age-appropriate books chosen by Scholastic for prices as low as one dollar.
Plus you will be helping our class when you order: Scholastic matches each order you place with FREE BOOKS for our classroom to share.
Thank you for helping your child become a successful reader.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Rogness
