Social Studies News Week of: Dec. 11th

This week in Social Studies we are wrapping up our Ancient Rome unit and preparing for our unit test which will be on Friday!  Students will be getting a study guide to help them prepare on Wednesday. 

We'll also have a couple of assignments due this week as well:
* Ch. 7 Sec. 4 Assign.--Due Tues.
* Ch. 7 Sec. 5 Assign.--Due Wed. 

Students will have time in class to complete those assignments on Monday & Tuesday, but may need to bring home to finish if they don't get it completed during that work time. 

Mid-Quarter grades have been posted so be sure to check out the Infinite Campus Portal. 

Math News Week of 12/11

Our recent focus in 6th grade math has been solving equations. We will continue exploring equations this week as we learn about writing and solving multiplication equations, division equations, and two-step equations. Following are the upcoming math assignments.

Middle School Forensics

6th-8th grade students are eligible to participate in forensics, so I wanted to share the informational letter and season schedule in advance.  The season begins on January 23rd.

Nightly homework:  Students should be reading a book for at least 20 every night.  Please check with your child and ask about their current book. 

Monday:  Biography paper - body paragraph 1
Tuesday:  Biography paper- body paragraph 2, run-on sentences
Wednesday:  Biography paper- body paragraph 3, sentence fragments
Thursday:  Biography paper- introduction paragraph
Friday: Biography paper- introduction paragraph, plagiarism

Esta semana en español (Week of 12/4)

6th grade Spanish students are finishing unit 2 (about date, time, and basic phrases) this week and transitioning to unit 3, which will be about the weather. Students will be working on their Birthday Invitation project to end unit 2 on Monday and Tuesday in class, so be on the lookout for their awesome invitations at some point this week when I let them bring them home!
