ELA News week of 9/11

Students should be reading at home every night for at least 20 min!  Students are working toward the "40 Book Challenge" this year.  They are being asked to read 40 books of their choice from a variety of genres to expand their horizons as a reader.  In order to meet this challenge, they will need to be reading outside of class.  Thank you for your support in this very important endeavor!

Monday: STAR test
Tuesday: Genre study, Best/Worst lists
Wednesday: Writing from a list, Theme
Thursday: Theme, Freak the Mighty
Friday: Show me the evidence

Math News Week of September 11th

This week we will be diving into a review of multiplying decimals. In addition to the homework assignments listed below, students have their "Math is Everywhere Tiles," which will be due on Tuesday. This Friday, we will be doing our Fall STAR Testing in math class. Here are the upcoming assignments for the week.

Science News Week of Sept. 11th

We will start our first Science Unit this week! We will be studying how technology and engineering have an impact on society. We will be doing several projects and activities to learn and practice the engineering design loop process.

Monday: Introduction to Unit Ideas, Scientific Method Notes/Design Loop Notes, Best Inventions of the 21st Century Article

Tuesday: Best Invention Socratic Discussion, Design Loop Notes

Wednesday: Invention Project

Thursday: Invention Project

Math News Week of September 5th

We are off to a great start in 6th grade math! This week we started to create our "Math is Everywhere" tiles. Students picked an area they see math outside of the classroom and are creating a tile that shows this. Our first homework assignment from the textbook will be due on Monday and is listed below.

Science News Week of Sept. 5

Hello! Welcome to 6th Grade Science! I am looking forward to a great year! We will be doing lots of activities and projects throughout the year that cover the concepts of Physical Science. We will be doing units that cover Technology and Engineering, Energy, Chemistry, Waves, and Plants.

Tuesday: Team Challenge, Introduction to Science Poster Project in class

Wednesday: Team Challenge, Science Poster Project work time and presentations

Thursday: Lab Safety Activities

Friday: Measurement Activities, Metric System Article Analysis- DUE Tuesday 9/12
