Math Update Week of February 9-13

One quick update to the previous math post! Students will also be starting a Coordinate City project on Tuesday. Class time will be given on Tuesday and Wednesday to work on this project. If students don't complete the activity during class, the project will be due Monday, February 16th.

This week in Math:

This week we have our Chapter 7 Test on Friday. We have one more new lesson on absolute value Monday, and then will spend time reviewing functions and inequalities for our test.

Science News Week of Feb 2-6

This Week in Science:

This week we studied afterimages and the persistence of vision while seeing some really cool things. Then we reviewed for our test that we took today!

We will study sound waves and how we hear sound.

English Language Arts News February 2-6

This week in class we will read a variety of Greek myths, learn vocabulary words, analyze an article, and begin reading The Lightning Thief.

Assignments Due this Week:
Daily Homework:  Read nightly (monthly one pager book, quarterly novel, or other book if done with the previous two options)

Monday:  Mythology stations (done in class)

Tuesday:  Finish mythology stations, learn first 10 vocab terms, learn new one pager expectations

Wednesday:  Read "What is a Myth?" article and create "twitter post" summary, learn next 10 vocab terms (done in class)

Thursday:  Learn next 10 vocab terms, check out Lightning Thief books, listen to audio recording of first chapter

Friday:  Week 2 paragraph due (done in class), Initial reading response/prediction assignment on Google classroom (done in class)

Social Studies week of 2/2

This week in Social Studies we'll be wrapping up our Ancient Greek unit.  We'll be learning more about Alexander the Great and have an assignment on that (Ch. 6 Sec. 5) due on Wednesday.  We'll be working on it in class on Tues. 2/3.

We'll also have a 1 page paper due on Friday about Alexander the Great.  Students will be working on this in class on 2/4 and 2/5.  Students will have a sheet attached into their social studies notebook detailing the assignment.

We're tentatively scheduled to have our Greek unit test next Tuesday.
